High School Baseball Update

As Eric noted yesterday, Henderson County and Woodford County advanced in yesterday's semi-finals. Here were the scores:

Woodford Co. 6, Bishop Brossart 0
Henderson Co. 10, Meade Co. 6

But it's a pretty drive back from Lexington to Brandenburg.

So now we are down to the final, which will be played tonight at 7 P.M. at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington:

Woodford Co. Yellow Jackets (33-6) v. Henderson Co. Colonels (29-13)

  1. WSON this morning was rallying the Henderson County locals to make the trek over to Lexington for this evening's championship. "It's an easy drive," said DJ Bill Stevens, who speaks from experience given that his son attends Transylvania University in Lexington. Furthermore, he said, "the rain should hold out until after church tomorrow." Then he played a taped interview with the coach, who urged all listening Henderson County "former players, alumni and fans to turn the park into a sea of maroon. I know you will."

The town's annual W.C. Handy Blues Festival begins this weekend, and Bill Stevens seemed a little torn to be also reporting on that counterprogramming.
