NBA Update

The first round of the NBA playoffs finally finished today, as the L.A. Clippers -- after losing Game 6 at home -- rolled into Memphis and won Game 7 by the score of 82-72 with the help of 8 huge points from our old friend Eric Bledsoe.  It was a very odd series -- I can't remember another NBA series where both Game 6 and Game 7 were won by the road team.  So Dallas and Memphis, who pulled so many surprises last year, are gone, and the first round ends as follows (higher seeds listed first):

EASTERN CONFERENCE:
Chicago 2 - 4 Philadelphia
Boston 4 - 2 Atlanta
Indiana 4 - 1 Orlando
Miami 4 - 1 New York

WESTERN CONFERENCE:
San Antonio 4 - 0 Utah
Memphis 3 - 4 L.A. Clippers
L.A. Lakers 4 - 3 Denver
Oklahoma City 4 - 0 Dallas

Since none of the series in the Eastern Conference went seven games, the two second-round series taking place in the East have already started.  As of now, the second round appears as follows (higher seeds listed first):

EASTERN CONFERENCE:
Boston 1 - 0 Philadelphia
Miami 1 - 0 Indiana

WESTERN CONFERENCE:
San Antonio 0 - 0 L.A. Clippers
Oklahoma City 0 - 0 L.A. Lakers

I will be pulling for Eric Bledsoe and the Clippers to upset the aged Spurs, and of course I will be pulling for Rajon Rondo and the Celtics to beat the 76ers.  But I have a feeling that the NBA title is going to be decided in the Western Conference final, which will probably feature San Antonio and Oklahoma City.

  3. Now that it's almost time to start paying attention to the NBA playoffs, I've been scouring the rosters to see who's on which teams. I am happy to see that Juwan Howard continues to work for the Miami Heat, and it makes me wonder whether Bob McAdoo might still be on someone's injured reserve.

Backup guard Eric Bledsoe scored 23 points for the Clippers in a Game 1 loss to the Spurs. I sure didn't think he'd do much in the NBA when he left UK after only one season. Good for Eric Bledsoe!
