Album Review: Mondo by Electric Guest

I really enjoyed this album, and have found myself playing it just to play it.  It's the first thing I've heard in a while that feels unique and fresh.  A two man group the shining point is Asa Taccone who wrote the songs and has a wonderfully charming voice.

I'm always talking about the current movements in music, well these guys do a great job of finding their own sound while balancing off all of the current trends in music.  There are post punk elements, 50's duop elements, garage rocke elements, but they are blended here to make a charming album that gets better with each listen.

Most importantly these guys are tapping into a soul groove that is fresh, fun, and thoughtful.  Maybe it shouldn't be a surpise that their mentor for this first album has been Danger Mouse since that blend seems to define him.

If you're looking for some new music to play on a long drive I would say grab this one and enjoy.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 3 out of 5 stars for Pretty Good.
