Album Review: Young Love by Mat Kearney

If you like Jack Johnson, but you wish he'd put a little bit of R&B flair into his music, then this album from Mat Kearney may be for you.

When you think adult alternative this is pretty much what you think. For what it is it's not a bad album and I could see throwing it on for background music while you sit at home reading a book at night while your spouse is knitting and talking to you about her day. After all it's an album for adults.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.

  1. In addition to reading a book and listening to music, is there anything else you do while your wife is trying to talk with you?

  2. I didn't say listening to music, I said background music. And I purposely wanted to paint that picture of someone trying to read a book while someone talks to them. Think Catcher in the Rye.

  3. My wife: "Our daughter did the cutest thing a little bit ago ..."

Me: "Hold on, babe. The Joe B and Denny Show is almost to a commercial break."

My wife: "OK, now that they've gone to commercial, can we talk about what time you want to get together with your family on Christmas afternoon?"

Me: "Later, babe. GoHeath just posted a new comment at 'Oh, Kentucky' that I need to check out."

Speaking of The Joe B and Denny Show, the guys were excited to learn that Lee Corso would be speaking at a Boy Scouts event in Louisville this week. Not every state with such big names from the world of sports would see them show up at such events, opined the moderator dude.

Coach Crum remembered that, when he arrived as men's basketball coach at the University of Louisville, Lee Corso was the football coach at the school. Corso took Crum out to lunch at Denny's on Crum's first day in the office, and Crum said he always liked Corso and was very sad to see him move on to Indiana.

"Lee Corso is a character," Coach Crum said. "Nobody could argue with that."

Coach Crum recalled that he and Corso "rode the elephants when the circus came to town one time.

"Those things are big!" Coach Crum said. "... I don't know how I got wrapped up in that."
