Sorry if this continuation of GoHeath's fine preview ends abruptly, but the 2-year-old and I are headed out to hike and look for turkeys as soon as she wakes up.

Class A

Fort Mitchell Beechwood at Mayfield. The old foes meet again at War Memorial Stadium, whose opening night back in 1949 saw "one of few drop-kicks in the history of the West Kentucky Conference.."

Pikeville at Hazard. Here are two familiar supporting-cast members in recent Class A scripts. Hazard's Daniel Field, by the way, looks like a great place to go watch a game.

Class 2A

Glasgow at Murray. Happy Thanksgiving for the Scotties, finally. And now they have a perfectly sunny Friday for a fantastic four-hour drive across southwestern Kentucky over to Ty Holland Stadium in downtown Murray.

Somerset at Covington Holy Cross. The red-and-black Indians play their home games at Holmes High School's Thomas Ellis Field, built on a former lake bed near a castle were entertainment "was lavish," wrote Betty Lee Nordheim in 2002's Echoes of the Past, A History of the Covington Public School System. "Many formal parties were given, and famous people attended. Alice Roosevelt, daughter of the president, was a dinner guest in 1905 and may have met her husband-to-be, Nicholas Longworth, there at Holmesdale."

Class 3A

Louisville Central at Fort Campbell. My favorite item at the "unofficial fan store of your Fort Campbell Falcons" is the "Peace, Love & Hate Trigg County" T-shirt.

Belfry at Garrard County. The Golden Lions' fight song is sung to the "Washington and Lee Swing:"

Class 4A

Shelbyville Martha Layne Collins at Franklin-Simpson. Per the Nov. 21 FSHS announcements: "Football Tickets!!! Tickets are on sale in the office for Friday night’s game. They are $5.00 in advance and will be $7.00 at the game. Blue cards and season passes will NOT be accepted." In other news: "Your Catflash staff is currently accepting submissions of student art work and poetry as well as pictures of students in FSHS gear and questions for our advice column. Submissions can be made direction to any newspaper staff member, to Mrs. Hall or online via the 'I WANT TO BE IN THE FRANKLIN SIMPSON HIGH SCHOOL CATFLASH' facebook group." Maybe we need an "I WANT TO BE IN THE HEATH POST" facebook group.

Fort Thomas Highlands at Lexington Catholic. Interestingly, tickets for tonight's game at Joseph K. Stadium in Lexington are $6--$1 more than the advance tickets but $1 less than the gate price down in Franklin.

Class 5A

Elizabethtown John Hardin at Bowling Green. This week's Elizabethtown News-Enterprise headlines don't leave much gap for John Hardin optimism: "Bulldogs brace for Bowling Green's offense." "Bowling Green defense has been superb."

Somerset Pulaski Southwestern at Anderson County. Hate it that fun John Herndon is stuck behind The Anderson News paywall. Here's the start of his column that peaks out in the newspaper's Nov. 23 email digest: "Black Friday? I don’t think so. How about Red Friday? Anderson County Bearcat Red, that is. And forget about Occupying Wall Street or any other place other than Warford Stadium on Friday night, 7:30. There is still some high school football to be played in Lawrenceburg. The Bearcats will be hosting Southwestern, from Pulaski County, the state Class 5A semi-finals. Read that again. The Bearcats are just one win away from the state championship game. ..."

Class 6A

Louisville Trinity at Louisville Butler Traditional.

Boone County at Scott County. Rivalry renewed, after all.

Wow, the little girl is really zonked out. It's now 8:45. We had my family's Thanksgiving yesterday and my wife's today; plus, it's game day.
