Oh, Kentucky

Rex Chapman takes to Twitter to debunk the "IREX" myth, relayed here and here. "I however cannot defend the bra, louvers, cheap crystal piece dangling fr rear-view mirror or the painted script initials under door-handles."

Going out on top.

How about Basketball: the dream game in Kentucky?

Back to la grind.

Record-breaking Green girl golfers.

I imagine the sports staffer and photog who will get mileage and meals paid for Thursday night didn't have much a say in how this WKU College Heights Herald editorial came out.

What did the reporter write that DeWayne Peevy didn't like?

Rooting on the Racers from Paducah.

"... (I)f there is anybody out there who would help us it would be appreciated. Hal Rogers please help us."

Hiring in Liberty.

DoC (yeah, you know me) ... bringing the noise in Henderson.

RIP, Titus Jearl Boggs, "a well-known Harlan County minister. ... If you did not laugh when you were around him, you missed a little piece of heaven."

  1. At some point I'm going to start mocking Western's effort to re-brand itself as "WKU." In fact, I have already decided that I will never refer to the Hilltoppers as "WKU," just on principle.

In the meantime, I would suggest that the folks at the College Heights Herald should talk to their brothers at Murray State about their decision to hold out for a home-and-home basketball series with UK, and how many times the Racers have played the Wildcats lately.

  2. Why does "WKU" merit your derision?

  3. My philosophy is "Be who you are, and be that well." They are Western Kentucky University, and I think they should take pride in each of those words, rather than trying to re-brand themselves like some UAB wanna-be.

  4. I think your philosophy is fine; I just don't think you've been paying much attention to Western. WKU has been "WKU" at least as long as I can remember. Certainly, I wore a "WKU" T-shirt when I came home from my summer semester in 1985 because my older brother started calling me "wuh-KOO" upon my return from Bowling Green.

  5. I saw something the other day that indicated Western is now pushing the WKU brand much more aggressively.
