Oh, Kentucky

Your KHSAA fast-pitch final four are Allen County-Scottsville, Calloway County and Louisville Ballard and Pleasure Ridge Park. Two wins today in Owensboro would get either AC-S or Ballard the trophy; Calloway and PRP both need three wins. Games are planned to resume at 9 Central this morning, with the championship scheduled for 1 p.m. You can follow the action live here, but The Heath Post warns its readers with tight Saturday schedules that there is a threat of rain for the area today. That's good news for those us at the Kentucky desk whose tomatoes have been looking a little droopy, but it could, of course, impact today's schedule at Jack C. Fisher Park.

  1. In this morning's opening games, the Lady Scotties have defeated Ballard, and the Lady Lakers have eliminated PRP. Ballard and Calloway County play next, to see who faces the challenge of beating AC-S twice this afternoon.

  2. HURRAH! Allen County-Scottsville has won the fast-pitch championship. Multiple Twitter reports are indicating this is the school's first-ever KHSAA championship, in any sport ... congratulations, Scottsville!

(By the way, I referred to AC-SCOTTSville as the "Scotties" earlier. Of course, they are the Patriots. Glasgow is the Scotties. The Heath Post regrets the error.)
