Oh, Kentucky

On the road in western Kentucky in 2007 and in eastern Kentucky in 1934.

StoryCorps is visiting the commonwealth, too, to talk with homosexuals about their little hometowns.

A caller on The Joe B and Denny Show this morning prompted Coach Crum to talk about his first team at the University of Louisville. His starting guards included Jim Price of Russellville.

Even more done than we realized: State-champ Christian County is looking for a new head coach. The former coach is the head looker. (Hopkinsville's Bird Averitt, by the way, played for City, not County.)

I can't wait for the first KHSAA Bowldown, next March.

Or next Lady Topper golf season.

I have seen the future of journalism, and one of its names is ColumbiaMagazine.com.

I love playgrounds.

  1. Today's Rafferty's Trivia answer is Bob Griese. The question was which quarterback led his team to two Super Bowl championships and the only perfect season in NFL history. Joe B is standing by Griese as the answer, but some callers are complaining that Earl Morrall actually led the Dolphins in the perfect season. This is, of course, infuriating me.

  2. Now someone is wanting to say that Griese might not have had much of a career had Rick Norton not been injured.

  3. Rick Norton, by the way, played at Louisville Flaget High School, which no longer exists.

  4. Paul Hornung also went to Flaget, which is one of the few schools to win the KHSAA Boys' Basketball Championship that does not exist in any form. I would love to know who ended up with that trophy.

  6. The Heath Post's Twitter desk today is gleefully following a couple of media tussles: UK Radio Network's Oscar Combs vs. The Herald-Leader and KentuckySportsradio.com's and CBSSports.com's Matt Jones vs. ESPN's Bobby Knight.

  7. Number of commercials for Gov. Beshear's re-election campaign on www.oldies1480.com of Cadiz this afternoon: 2.

Number of commercials for all other candidates: 0.

  8. It's Rotary Club auction season in western Kentucky. Hopkinsville's is on the public-access channel tonight. Madisonville's must be soon, as they typically bump up against one another.
