Best of the 70's: The Clash by The Clash

The Clash (US Version)I have to confess I'm not the biggest Clash fan, but I can fully appreciate their impact on rock music.  Where the Ramones seem to bring a sense of humor, these guys brought raw emotions, especially anger.  Like Gang of Four and The Ramones these guys would debut with a fully formed sound that would define them.  When you think of The Clash you don't think of Sandanista! you think of something like "London Burning."

We'll get a chance to talk about The Clash later on in this countdown so that's all I'll say about this 1977 debut which sits at number 41 on the Best of the 70's list.

If you get home from your closing shift at Wendy's and you want to get fired up for a late night out with friends, this will get you going while you shower and dress.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.

  1. Throughout college, I had a running thing with a friend of mine where I would talk about how great The Who was and trash The Clash, and he'd talk about how great The Clash was and trash The Who. Now we trade Christmas cards with soft-focus pictures of our daughters. Funny.
