Best of the 70's: Fragile by Yes

Fragile [Expanded]Currently sitting at 100 on the Best Albums of the 70's chart at Best Ever Albums, this is a classic progressive/art rock album.  I would recommend this one as an introductory album to anyone who is interested in this style of rock.  It's got a great single in "Roundabout," it's got some Brahms, and then you get classics like the 11 minute "Heart of the Sunrise," which musically is about as good as progressive rock gets, but also brings in the art rock components of the early 70's.

Of course the problem with music like this for me is that you really only want to play it when you are in the mood for it.  Unless you just want to sit and listen to this album, I don't really see any reason to put it on.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.

  1. I'm a big fan of early Yes. This is not as good as the Yes Album, but it's still very good.
