Album Review: Olympia by Bryan Ferry

OlympiaThis is an easy album to review.  If you like the Bryan Ferry solo stuff, you'll like this album.  If you never listened to any of his solo stuff, but you like Avalon by Roxy Music, you'll like this.

I recently reviewed the new Antony and the Johnsons album.  Antony Hegarty is known for his voice, which sounds like it's teetering on the edge all the time.  I forgot that Bryan Ferry truly is the master of this.  His voice is not as strong as it was 28 years ago when he made Avalon, but he has not lost his abilities as a singer.  He adds a level of emotion to his songs that often sits in an interesting contrast to the music.

This would be a good travel album, and of course like all Bryan Ferry albums a good album to throw on for a long night of conversation with a close friend.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 3 out of 5 stars for Pretty Good.
