Ah, Footbah

I like this kind of party:

Heath at Caldwell County. Reported The Times Leader of Princeton this week: "So far this season, Heath has shown anything from a spread formation to a two tight end set. The Pirates have also utilized a tight formation where they line up two running backs immediately behind the linemen with the quarterback in the shotgun and one running back beside him. Last week, Heath used primarily a running attack against Union County in a 49-0 setback."

Todd County Central at Fort Campbell. The visiting Rebels are 4-3, and Fort Campbell is 1-5. But let's see (and listen) how the Falcons fare, back home at Fryar Stadium and in district competition.

Reidland at Trigg County. The winning coach wins a country ham.

Louisville Ballard at Louisville Eastern. Adam Lefkoe of Louisville's WHAS-11 reports that Ballard wide receiver Devante Parker, one of the state's breakout stars of the season, strengthens his calf muscles by playing tag.

Lexington Christian at Paris. Mike Fields reports in The Herald-Leader that Paris had only 12 players in uniform for its loss to Raceland last week. That's 19 straight losses for the alma mater of Bill Arnsparger.

Ohio County at Christian County. Ohio County comes into tonight's game 0-5 after shocking Hopkinsville, 39-36, in Hartford. Now the Eagles head to Hoptown to face County, whose 7-0 ties idle Fort Thomas Highland's for the state's best Class 5A mark.

West Jessamine at East Jessamine. Jessamine County High in 1997 split into these two schools, which are both in Nicholasville. West Jess is one of the state's five 6-0 Class 4A teams; East Jess, also in 4A, is 5-1. The home team calls its field, "The Jungle."

Washington County at Fort Knox. With Murray idle, the 6-0 Commanders are the only unbeaten Class 2A team in action tonight.

Somerset at Garrard County. The 7-0 visitors remain The Associated Press's top-ranked Class 3A team.

Mayfield at Ballard Memorial and Caverna at Louisville Holy Cross. Class A's Mayfield and Holy Cross are both 7-0.

  1. I can remember when Paris and Heath each won state football championships.

  2. It still sounds to me like Heath may be experimenting with a single wing.

  3. Whatever they are experimenting with it isn't working.
