Album Review: No Gravity by Shontelle

No Gravity [+Digital Booklet]

In 20 years if someone came to me and said they would like to hear an album that represented a pop, r&b album from 2010 I would hand them this album.

One thing that I like about albums in 2010 is that we have gone back to 10 to 12 track albums.  This is a nice 10 track album and a trend that I hope sticks.  One thing I hate about pop, r&b from 2010 is that the vast majority all sound exactly alike.  This album has all the formula pieces you'd want to represent 2010.  You could literally stick any number of singers into the studio for this album and there would be no difference.

Besides these things the reason I would pick this album is that for the most part it never misses.  Though very formulaic there is no song that makes you want to trash the album.  There is no song that makes you want to buy the album either but that's another matter.

Honestly I can never imagine putting this album on for any reason.  I did throw the song "DJ Made Me Do It" on my latest run mix, and I guess I could see pulling off any number of songs for a workout tape.  Outside of that I can't imagine any reason to ever listen to any of these songs.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
