U.C.F.C. Update

Here's a complete list of all the Unofficial College Football Championship Games played so far this season.  When the year began, Florida held the U.C.F.C.:

(Home teams listed first):
08/30/25:  Florida 55 - 0 Long Island U.
09/06/25:  Florida 16 - 18 S. Florida
09/13/25:  Miami (Fla.) 49 - 12 S. Florida
09/20/25:  Miami (Fla.) 26 - 7 Florida
10/04/25:  Florida St. 22 - 28 Miami (Fla.)
10/17/25:  Miami (Fla.) 21 - 24 Louisville
10/25/25:  Louisville 38 - 24 Boston Coll.
11/01/25:  Virginia Tech 16 - 28 Louisville
11/08/25:  Louisville 26 - 29 California (OT)

California becomes the fifth team to hold the U.C.F.C. this year.  Four separate holders have lost the Big Gold Trophy this season, and three of them lost at home.  That is extremely unusual.

Cal holds the U.C.F.C. for the first time since 1993.  The Bears will take the Big Gold Trophy to Stanford on November 22 for The Big Game, which will be an even bigger game this year with the U.C.F.C. on the line.

  1. The UCFC is one of the great inventions of the HP world. Thank you for continuing to keep up with it.

  4. I'm starting to get excited for the W. Kentucky-Evansville matchup on December 6. That's a fixture that isn't played often enough.

  5. My guy Will Wade is getting it done at NCSU so far, with easy wins over NC Central, UAB, and UNC Greensboro. The Wolfpack are at 24 on Ken Pom. Wade is the guy the Wolfpack fans have been waiting for. He's like Rick Barnes but more evil -- he's perfect for NCSU. People talk about Duke and UNC, but if you really want to see some energy on Tobacco Road, you need NCSU to become a power.

  6. Vandy has not been ranked this high on Ken Pom in 14 years. At the beginning of the 2011-12 season, Vandy was ranked Number 9. The Commodores lost their second game of the year to Cleveland State and never again reached that height. That team eventually beat UK in the finals of the SEC Tournament before losing to Wisconsin 60-57 in the second round of the NCAA.

  7. Alabama's loss to Oklahoma drops Vandy to sixth place in the SEC and virtually kills Vandy's chances of making the College Football Playoff.

  8. Even if Vandy wins its last two games (against UK and Tennessee), the Dores would finish at 10-2. With that record, including losses at Alabama and Texas, they would finish the year ranked behind at least five other SEC Teams: Texas A & M, Georgia, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Alabama. The SEC cannot put six teams in the playoff, so Vandy would be out.
