Meanwhile, I'm actually printing the brackets and planning to follow, round by round, the Class A and Class 4A affairs.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11218278987255792995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697242053625998558.post-33991232262053944712016-11-04T09:33:34.903-04:002016-11-04T09:33:34.903-04:00Jason also mentions Hoptown, Wayne County, Rockcas...Jason also mentions Hoptown, Wayne County, Rockcastle County, Shelby County and Etown John Hardin as other tough teams in the 4A bracket. I'm inclined to make Hoptown my pick, but, having grown up in Paducah and West Paducah, I have pretty much the same tendency toward overrating the Tigers as JFrakes does with F-S. I'm friends with a family from Rockcastle County, so I'm going with them. ROCK! IS! Now, look, I love F-S. I really do. I covered a lot of games down there; they had a really nice-guy-to-me old coach for years, and they had my favorite basketball gym in all of south-central Kentucky. But here's the deal: Jason Frakes went to Bowling Green High, and anyone who goes to Bowling Green High stays in constant fear of tough, plucky F-S coming up from the sticks and making the city-slicker Purples look bad. It does look like the Wildcats are having a very good year, and I love Jason Frakes. But I imagine he's overrating Franklin.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11218278987255792995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697242053625998558.post-43259459793500518052016-11-04T09:23:50.381-04:002016-11-04T09:23:50.381-04:00Fort Thomas Highlands is now actually in 5A. Jason identifies Highlands at 5-5 Louisville Doss as the 5A tournament's best first-round matchup: "Bluebirds haven’t lost in the first round of the playoffs since 1991, but Dragons have a chance in this one." Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11218278987255792995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697242053625998558.post-51010735961355242652016-11-04T09:21:25.174-04:002016-11-04T09:21:25.174-04:00He's got Fort Mitchell Beechwood over Paintsvi...He's got Fort Mitchell Beechwood over Paintsville in Class A. He also says Russellville, Riceland and Pikeville (the defending champ) could upset stuff, and he also has a note about 8-2 Bracken County. I think I saw the other day that team is having its best season ever. I'm not sure what's up with Hazard. Anyway, this sounds like a fun tournament. I'm going to try to keep with this one.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11218278987255792995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697242053625998558.post-47441810239474075572016-11-04T09:18:57.906-04:002016-11-04T09:18:57.906-04:00OK, my main man at the C-J, JFrakes, agrees with m...OK, my main man at the C-J, JFrakes, agrees with me on Trinity in 6A, Bowling Green in 5A, Belfry in 3A and Mayfield in 2A.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11218278987255792995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697242053625998558.post-59056961091645910082016-11-04T09:10:34.404-04:002016-11-04T09:10:34.404-04:00By the way, my predictions for the state champions...By the way, my predictions for the state champions are Trinity, Bowling Green, Highlands, Belfry, Mayfield and Hazard. I haven't looked at the polls to see if these teams remain in classes 6A through A, respectively, or are doing well again this year. Also, I'm glad to see Christian County/Hoptown rise, and I think it is fitting that Hopkins County Central and Madisonville-North Hopkins have the same records.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11218278987255792995noreply@blogger.com
