You just don't see this sort of officiating in the other SEC sports.GoHeathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11122010542579322600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697242053625998558.post-39483137137040202332016-02-22T21:57:46.568-05:002016-02-22T21:57:46.568-05:00Exactly.Exactly.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11218278987255792995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697242053625998558.post-14119911572110496432016-02-22T21:27:03.107-05:002016-02-22T21:27:03.107-05:00I definitely think that's a problem. Here'...I definitely think that's a problem. Here's how the SEC does in home court advantage:

2016: Home teams winning 71.4 percent of the time (leads all conferences)
2015: 53.2 percent (28th) (5 teams get bids)
2014: 69.8 percent (2d) (3 teams get bids)
2013: 69.8 percent (4th) (3 teams get bids)
2012: 69.8 percent (2d) (4 teams get bids)
2011: 59.4 percent (19th) (5 teams get bids)

As you can see, when the SEC officials call it straight, as they did in 2011 and 2015, the SEC had five teams get bids. In the other years, where the SEC officials called everything in favor of the home team (2012, 2013, 2014), the SEC had fewer bids.

This makes sense. When you call everything in favor of the home team, it means that almost every team in the conference will end up with some terrible road losses. (Look at UK's losses at UT and Auburn this year, for example.) Those bad losses will usually end up keeping one or two teams from making the tournament.GoHeathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11122010542579322600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697242053625998558.post-32149173082785483882016-02-22T20:38:07.531-05:002016-02-22T20:38:07.531-05:00Maybe those other conferences don't rip off th...Maybe those other conferences don't rip off their own so frequently.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11218278987255792995noreply@blogger.com
