Album Review: Wrecking Ball by Bruce Springsteen

If people believe that those on the left are feeling happier about the United States since Obama was elected to office they only need to listen to the latest offerings from Ani DiFranco and Bruce Springsteen to see just how angry they still are.

Like DiFranco, Springsteen struggles to turn his anger into smart, insightful songs and so the good moments are few. "This Depression" is probably the best song on the album and even it has problems for me as musically it feels too heavy handed. This album just feels so heavy the whole way through it's hard to know why anyone would come back to it. It's either lyrically too much or musically too much.

If you're on the left and Obama loses the election I could see putting "This Depression" on a mix tape for some like minded friends.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.
